Traverso DAW Review
Traverso DAW (digital audio workstation) is a free and open source multi track audio recording and editing suite with a unique user interface geared towards both home users and profession musicians. Instead of endless menus and submenus, Traverso uses both the mouse and keyboard together for speed and precision.
Traverso's clean, consistent interface and tools make learning it easy. The software is non-destructive, keeping audio sources in their original state as filters are applied, enabling you to edit your sound without altering the sample.
The program features a comprehensive set of non-linear effects for use with audio clips. These include fades and gain curves. The program also supports the popular LV2 plugin format.
LV2 is a plugin format developed by the LADSPA project, allowing a host program to load and use plugins to do some processing of audio data. Currently, more than twelve hundred plugins are available in the LV2 format.
This plugin format has a number of advantages, including the ability to host plugin bundles, peer-to-peer multiplayer editing, and complete plugin safety. In addition, it can be used for a wide range of projects and samples from different hardware and software platforms.
The program also has a range of other useful tools, such as a region playlist, notes window and live configs. These can all be accessed via the mouse cursor or using a keyboard shortcut. You can also save your work, undo and redo your edits with ease.
